Independent Bathing Systems specialise in modifying bathrooms for those with mobility issues offering a number of key benefits for their clients. Most importantly it aids and encourages independent living, helping to give individuals the confidence to care for their own personal needs without assistance.
It also helps to maintain strength as the use of support bars to lower and lift oneself to or from the seated position keeps muscles active, maintaining tone and circulation.
Home caregivers rely on grab rails to help give support and stability to both themselves and their charges.
It also helps to create a safe place for both adults and children as grab rails and non-slip safety surfaces greatly enhance the safety of the whole family in the bathroom.

The photos show two projects where the bath was replaced by a walk in full length shower base with glass sliding doors. In both cases the client was offered the option of half height shower doors which are better for carers but they preferred the aesthetic of the glass doors so these were fitted.
The tiling was a near but not perfect match to the existing tiling above the old bath and was chosen by the client.
Sometimes retiling of the whole enclosure is necessary or alternatively a waterproof laminate can be used to cover the old tiling.
Each project is different and although we give full advice on both technical and aesthic considerations the wishes of the client are always paramount in the final choice of design. For this reason a careful survey and close discussion with the client is always necessary before a full written quotation is prepared and presented to the client.
